Why are We WALKING?
WALKHS2 is a national positive action event as a show of public opposition to the HS2 proposal as detailed in the command paper issued by the Government on 12 March 2010.
SAVE OUR IDENTITY AS BEAUTIFUL BRITAIN AND OUR GREATETS ASSETS! WALKHS2
WALKHS2 upporters object to the HS2 proposal and the injustifiable desecration of our countryside, heritage, wildlife and communities. We are walking to pressure Government to scrap this proposal.
RAISE NATIONAL AWARENESS!
WALKHS2 supporters will be walking to raise awareness of the HS2 proposal locally and nationally. WALKHS2 supporters are encouraged to use WALKHS2 events to gain media attention and to facilitate public awareness.
OBSERVE AND RECORD WHAT WE ALL STAND TO LOSE!
WALKHS2 supporters are encouraged to document their walks and enjoy the environment at threat, observing first hand what we as a country stand to lose if HS2 goes ahead. Take photos, record film, diarise, paint, draw, anything!
UNITE AND FIGHT!
WALKHS2 supporters are encouraged to meet each other, discuss and share concerns, information, ideas and to support those affected, particularily those who stand to lose their homes and businesses and whose futures have been stolen since the announcement.
WALKHS2 supporters are encouraged to use the weekend to raise funds for local charities and community groups including Action Groups who oppose HS2 etc, as well as national campaigning against HS2. In other words, if you wish to use the event to raise money for a cause close to yourown heart - DO IT however you wish to.
